HISTORY
Mactan Christian Centre is a Christian Church situated in Casanta, Mactan, a duly established church by the laws of the Philippines, with SEC registration.
MCC’s pioneering pastor is the Reverend John Bartlett, an Australian. Ps John first came to the Philippines in 1989. He was involved in several Evangelistic Crusades on the island of Mindanao, and returned several times from Australia to the Philippines. In 1997 he came to live permanently in the Philippines, with his wife and daughter. Later a son was given to them by the LORD.
Ps John began to teach in a Bible College in Banawa, Cebu. At that time, he commenced ministry on the island of Mactan with a local pastor from Cebu.
Together they commenced a work of evangelism at the Soong dumpsite, then Ps John commenced a Bible Study in the home of a founding church member nearby. From there, a small church was built, which was the first MCC church, a nipa hut. Moving forward, through the generousity of Ps Norm Armstrong (deceased) and Ps Ruth Harvey, he was able to purchase a lot in Casanta, and built what is now the MCC building.
Over the years, the ministry of MCC has reached people from all walks of life. Ps John initially worked with a local pastor at the Cancer ward of Vicente Sotto Hospital, Cebu, then for the past 21 years, Ps John is ministering at the House of Hope, a drug Rehab Institution. He then focused the ministry of MCC to Eversley Child Sanitarium, Mandaue, an area set aside for the recovery of those suffering from Hansen's Disease, commonly known as Leprosy. Ps John also does Bible studies in a prison on Lapulapu.
MCC commenced with a Bible study in one house and has grown into the church it is today. It has been involved with children’s assistance through school, and to College. MCC has a great focus on children, with its 5 monthly Children's Outreaches, in different areas.
Men’s, Women's and Youth Fellowships are a part of the life of the church.
MCC has a full time Secretary, currently 5 Teachers in Mactan Christian the new Learning Centre. Having commenced in School Year 2011-12, MCLC has just completed its 8th Anniversary in March 2019.
