This SNL is not talking about salvation. That is in 2 Cor 5:17. But it says...the old has gone. The new has come. Now, let's use that principle in our lives. A new job. A new scholarship. A new semester. A new ministry. A promotion. A new direction. So many ways we can personally apply. Now, think: you have a new... task. Its your chance, to start again. Your chance to get rid of the old. What do you think will happen if you bring your old mindset into the new position? A higher position. A higher calling. But you refuse to change. You do the same things, the old way, into the new position, etc., what will happen? You will fail. You refuse to change. You say I always did it that way. I am the same and I won't change you say. Learn, stop doing things the old way. You won't last in the new position. Let's look at what Jesus said in Mark 2:22. You don't put new wine into old wineskins. Both will be destroyed. Don't bring old thought processes into a new position. You will destroy yourself. But I always did it this way. That's how I got here. It's good enough. You miss the point. What was good enough then is not good enough for now. Now you must change. Old must be replaced. Stop thinking old ways. Stop doing old ways. A new position or school or work or church... do it differently. Grow. Change. Adapt. A new start. People see potential in us. And they expect us to do things differently. But when we think the same, do the same, we leave ourselves open to disappointment. And then others are disappointed in us. Old wine in new wineskins. Old thought processes and ways into a new position. No. It will end in great disappointment. Let's do a new thing in a new way.
