What is a tragedy of life? A tragedy, of life can take many forms. A car accident can be a tragedy. Someone dies; is lost. Any accident or disaster anywhere, with death, is also a tragedy for someone. Not for all, as they are not emotionally involved. A serious injury, resulting in some debilitating disease, can also be a tragedy. But there is also emotional tragedy. This too takes many forms. It reminds me of the Bee Gees song- Tragedy. The song Tragedy is about a person, who is lonely; they cannot have the person they want. For whatever reason; it is as if they have no soul; the person gets depressed. That is also a tragedy of life. God allows us to all undergo different tragedies in life, as he sees fit. A tragedy of life, can feel very heavy. The issue is, that we cannot deny the existence of a tragedy in whatever form. The tragedy is real, alive and it has feelings. But, we must recognise it as a tragedy. Not dismissing the reality of it, but understanding the person has died; or we must live with a disease, or understanding we cannot have what we want. It is a tragedy. But it should never stop us, from continuing to serve our LORD and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We can’t bring back good health. We can’t bring back the dead. We must learn to live with, emotions that we cannot express, but keep them quiet, private, hidden, silent. These are tragedies of life. Not one of us does not have a tragedy. From broken relationships, to relationships we can’t have. These are all tragedies. Rev 21: 4 can be viewed in all different forms of tragedy, but we must persevere through them, always looking to the LORD. Isaiah 25: 7-8a is what we must fight, in our mind. We must faithfully understand- it is meant to be, or even harder, it is not meant to be- John 3: 27. Think of the emotional tragedy of Jacob. He wanted Racheal, and it took 7 years from when he met her, till he married her. This is emotional tragedy. After 7 years, we look back and say “that was quick” but during the 7 years, it was a long and hard road. Some things are just not meant for us. Some are. Do we wait or not? That is a tragedy in and of itself. But in all the physical and emotional tragedies of life, understand the LORD brought them. The LORD knows the answer. And in many tragedies of life, we may never ever have the things we yearn for. That’s a tragedy. But, never give up. Focus on the LORD. Don’t be disheartened and discouraged in your personal tragedies, even though they do hurt. They are real feelings and real emotions. But let us all look up to the LORD.
