When we look at such terms we need to really think the difference between "a" or "in". Informal, not formal. Ingrate , not grateful. Apolitical not political, areligious no religion.
People...ingrates. institutions... apolitical or areligious. Are these true? Are these real? Do we really believe we can isolate ourselves from our beliefs? A non religious institution? If we can, we have NO belief. Words only. Can we separate ourselves from our Christian faith? If we can we have no faith. Can we really be a part of a non political Institutions? Well that's easier if we are really not interested in politics. What about people? Can we actually help without expecting nothing? No. We want something in return. We want acknowledgement. We want thanks. God created us, to give him thanks. To praise him. God expects gratefulness for salvation, through actions. We are in God's image. We expect acknowledgement for what we do. It's in us. People who do not acknowledge us we turn off from. They are ingrates. So, the issue is really us, not them. But they are right. We do want something from them. We can't pay off salvation. We can't pay back gifts. But there is something expected from us. And this is what must be clarified. Why can't people receive? Because of pride. No one helps me. I do it on my own. People who help me want something back. This is what we observe in life. It's true. It took me many years to receive. I do now. And what do I give back? Gratitude. Not everyone wants something back. Not every one. This must be explained. The Bible is full of examples. Things given. No return required. Feeding 5000. Feeding 4000. Healing. So many things given. Requirement? Acknowledgement. No pay back. None. Someone said to me...I can't pay back what you have given me. I said...stop thinking that. You can't. And I don't want payback. Can we isolate ourselves from God? No. Can we isolate ourselves from political views? No. Can we stop wanting thanks? No. We just want appreciation. And deep down....we want....something. Some people must learn to give. Some people must learn to receive. Some people give as they want to help. Yes, there are bad apples everywhere. Evil motives. But generally people want to help people. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Doing good whilst being forced to shut up about Christ is nothing but good works. Totally pagan, move away from godless pagan Institution's. Throw them away like filthy rags. Learn to give in the body. Then it has both physical and spiritual benefits. God v world paganism. Do things God's way. With gratitude of being his instrument.
