I was very blessed last Sunday to have the Lord’s Table with my brothers and sisters in the LORD. At the same time, I also feel deeply saddened that all were not able to join in with us; some are still in confinement due to the age restrictions; some do not have a pass to get out; and also very sad, as some who were able to come, did not want to come. So in these very difficult times, we really do need the comfort and encouragement of each other. It is only when we go through very difficult and lonely times, can we fully understand what Heb 10: 25 means- meet to encourage. This can only be fully understood when we are separated from our brothers and sisters. I saw faces last Sunday I had not seen in months. So encouraging. 1Thess 4: 18 and 1 Thess 5:11 is all about encouraging each other. People in the world, get their encouragement by going to the gym, and to see people focused on the same thing as they are; their own body. Other people get encouraged when they join a football or sports team- they get their encouragement from like-minded people. But as Christians, we are in the world, not of it 1 Peter 1: 17 and 2 Cor 6: 17. And in the same way, we belong to another world; Phil 3: 20 our citizenship, where we really belong, is with like-minded people who have the same focus in life- growth in God, growth within ourselves and growth with each other. That is why it is such a beautiful thing to be together, and in the presence of God worshiping together. It is something so very special indeed. The sheer richness of this relationship I felt as we had the Lord’s Table together. It was for the first time this year. Yet there were many who were unable to be with us. Paul encourages the Corinthians in 2 Cor 13: 11- be of one mind. Like minded. Paul’s joy was nothing but pure spiritual joy, when the Philippians were like-minded Phil 2:2; in love and in spirit and in one purpose. When we act as one, we are like-minded. This is joy; pure spiritual joy. Employers always want their workers to be united in getting the job done. Teachers have a beautiful batch of children when all students pitch in together and work together to achieve a set goal. And this is what Paul encourages the Corinthians, the Philippians and of course; us. To be like-minded; united is 1 Cor 2: 16 to have the mind of Christ. One in goal and purpose. And this is the wonderful feeling of being together at the Lord’s Table, for the first time in 6 months. May we meet together soon, as we should, and be one spiritual family, like minded in all we do. Stay blessed. Stay strong. Every trial does pass away.
