We always look forward to better times ahead. Some say…those were the good old days….means they look back to when life was freer and not so paranoid like these days. I remember when I was around 20 years of age, I was flying to London, England from Sydney on a 737...and I asked the flight attendant if I can go to the cockpit to see the captain flying the plane. She asked the captain, and I was called forward to see the cockpit, with the 2 pilots. Try doing that today. You must be joking. Yes, those were the good old days of freedom. Now, to look ahead for encouraging times. We must keep our hopes up, things will get better.
Let us look at some encouraging Scriptures in relation to the future. Ecc 10: 14 - no one knows what is coming…either whilst you are alive or after you have passed on. So this is a great encouragement to me, as I know when I have passed on that Mth 24: 6-7 (is and) will kick in; life will only get worse. So, this is encouraging, that we are not living in the worst of it all. We keep our hopes up, and be encouraged in these times Ecc 3: 22, 6:12, 8:7 all say the same. Who knows what comes next. James 4: 14 implies not so well in the future…so I encourage you, be happy. Many Scriptures seem to point out it will get worse. Make hay whilst the sun shines!! Let us look at these good times, and not the dark times which will come, with dark clouds on the horizon. So, again, I encourage you, be happy. Get your strength in the LORD. Pray for each other. Pray for unity. Mth 6: 34 is very encouraging. Don’t worry about tomorrow...it will bring its own trouble, sure enough. So enjoy today, whilst it is today. We do tend to focus on the future. Just think; all the plans we made for the past year or so, stopped instantly in March 2020. All the plans we made for the future ended. So, now, we must rewrite the future, as according to the present. We must come up with new plans. We must adjust to the present. The governments tell us…put your faith in the government to bring you through. But be encouraged; Scriptures says...put your faith in God Mark 11: 22. The government says...put your faith in the government; Jesus says….put your faith in God. Wholeheartedly, I encourage you not to look at the situations around you. Have faith in God. It will be all working out. Perhaps we have had a great realignment of the direction of the world for hundreds of years, if not thousands, yet, it will all come good. The road ahead does seem bleak, yet we can look forward again that the LORD will break this darkness, enveloping the world like a sheet. These are times of great testing of personal faith. These are times of the revealing of who we really are. And as Christians, we should be motivated to be very strong, within ourselves, motivated to be a great strong example to others. This is what we should focus on; being a light in the darkness. Darkness means hard times. And this is the hardest of hard times I have ever seen. Will I ride in a cockpit again? No. never. Will I ride with the wind in my hair on a motorbike as when I was 18? You bet. I look forward to a trip to Bohol. When? I don’t know. But it is in my future plans. Have faith. If we lose faith, and hope, we are simply dead. Keep dreaming. Keep believing. Trust in Jesus. Trust in God. Have faith in God. The sun will shine. Again.
