In Gen 17:1 God tells Abraham his name: “I am El Shaddai.” God tells Abraham that he is the Almighty God, the All-Sufficient God, and the God of More Than Enough. That is the meaning of God Almighty -EL-SHADDAI. So many Scriptures... With me nothing is impossible.. My God supply all your needs... He won victories his people didn't fight. He gave provisions they didn't earn. The name is clear. The meaning is clear. The evidence is clear. So is God Enough? Ask a person who can't get a job? Ask a person who has no money. Ask a person who wants a loving husband? Ask a person who wants a loving wife. Ask a person who is lonely, miserable, unhappy, has nothing they want. Ask them is God Enough? Ask a person whose child died. Whose mother died. Is God Enough? That is the very reason some people, like my father, hated God. God was not enough. My father wanted his wife who died at 28 (my mother). Was God enough for him? He often said.. I don't need God. I want my wife. He died hating God. So, God was not enough for my father. Many people, not just one person, many people want, lack, need the human element of a loving partner. I mean, I can cuddle my Teddy Bear, but I can't cuddle God. But are they flesh,? A warm loving body? People need people. God said so in Gen 2:20. So how is God Enough when you are lacking? As someone said, it's not about the goal of getting what you want; it's about the journey. A believer and an unbeliever do not have the same outlook on life. The unbeliever focuses on the now. The believer focuses on the end game... I die a better person for not compromising myself and my walk with God even if I never got that which I dearly wanted. Its about the journey to your death. And in this is EL-SHADDAI. I am all you need. I am enough for you. A believer is aware of living every day by the grace of God. A believer waits for the LORD and serves him even when they don't have what they physically want, but rather they have the spiritual strength, day by day by day to serve EL-SHADDAI as EL-SHADDAI strengthens the person to serve him. In this way God is enough. For that is who he is... Enough. the fight then in a non believer...well there is no fight. God is not enough so they get what they physically want to have enough (which they never actually have). But for a believer, God is Enough and that spiritual dimension of a relationship with God, actually in a profound way makes up for the lacking physical part. E.g. Jesus and food that the disciples were clueless about. God strengthens you for today. And that spiritual strength is enough for today. Still lacking physically, yes. But somehow both strengthened, physical and spiritual, and given perseverance for just one more day. One more day. And so it will go...till you get that physical thing you desire, or you die without it, but you never gave up hoping nor did you ever think God is not EL-SHADDAI but God is so much your EL-SHADDAI. Its how you view God. Its all about the journey. If the goal of the desire is given, praise God for he makes all things beautiful in his time. If the beautiful thing is not for you, praise God you did not compromise. Is God Enough? Yes.
