We have been doing in the Prayer Meeting- parts of what is termed as the Lord’s Prayer. We have seen how it is a spiritual prayer, from a spiritual believer to a spiritual Saviour. “Lead us not into temptation” has actually been changed recently to “do not let us fall into temptation” this change was made by pope francis in 2017. So, now, Jesus Christ’s words, that is God’s Words, are changed by the pope. Guess he never read Deut 4: 2 Pro 30:6 and Rev 22: 18-19 So why Does the world want to “cancel” God’s Word? Because they do not understand it. So, let us see it for what it is. Lord, do not give me that which I want, is another way of saying “lead us not into temptation”. LORD, please, what I want is wrong, bad, immoral, and unethical- please do not give me that which I crave. For if I get it, it is sin. We need to understand that God gives us the desires of our heart. Is 30: 28 says that God literally leads people astray. Why? Because they strayed from God, and he gives them destruction. They are doomed, as to what they want they get. A bit in the jaw, a hook in the nose and a bit in the mouth Is 37: 29 is the result of people's anger towards God. Therefore God leads them to a way that is not good. God makes us wander from his way and God hardens our hearts Is 63:17. This is all as a result, of our rebellion towards God in our hearts. One sin, leads to another, and another- this is the series in Rom 1: 19, 24, 26, 28; a natural downward spiral. Just because we neither know God’s words, or the meaning of his righteousness, and how he cannot tolerate sin, it does not mean that we change his word. Lead us not into temptation, will only ever happen, when we reject his right ways for us. But deliver us from evil- these are right and true prayers. Only God has the right and the power, to take us where he wants as he deems fit. The mountain top or the valley. And what we do, in this prayer, is ask- LORD, save me from myself. As only God can do that. He is the only one who can lead us to what is bad for us, or from what is good for us. Or lead us away from what is bad for us or lead to what is good for us. To be led by a bit in the mouth or jaw or a hook in the nose, means that for sure we will go there and do that as God says so, as to the consequence of a behaviour and our desires. God is not tempting us James 1: 13 but we are led by our own temptations James 1: 14. It takes wisdom to know and understand these things. We are dragged away by our own desires. And God makes sure we get what we want. But it also works the other way- Ps 37: 4 and Psalm 73: 25. Who have I in heaven but you, and earth has nothing I desire but you. They are the counter balance if you will of Mth 6:13. It all depends on the desire of the heart. So, we must rein in those desires that we have that are wrong. We must bring them in check. Restrain the mind/the thoughts, or we will be led, by the nose, where we want to go. A warning.
