Make Hay Whilst the Sun Shines.....

That is an old saying. Do what you can, while you can. Because one day it will be over, and you can do no more what makes you happy . Should you reduce the "good time" before it ends? Isn't that premature? Thus robbing yourself of the good time you can have now, even if you know it will end? The choice you have is end it now or let it die naturally. The storm clouds were coming to Elijah. They were coming 1 Kings 18:44. He knew it But did he sit there with an umbrella or did he last minute run from the rain? Jesus said, work now whilst you can as darkness is coming when you cannot work John 9:4. They are both saying... make hay whilst the sun shines. Being single. Being married. There are benefits, they say, of both. When you are single you can meet different people. Go on dates. Have a good time. Once committed or married, those times seem to end. Paul gives advice, which I completely disagree with, 1 Cor 7: 27 do not look for a wife and I also disagree with verse 29. Don't go near your wife. Serious? Of course we understand this was spoken through the lens of imminent eschatology. But those who don't know this would clearly misuse these verses. So, the fact remains, is it wrong to make hay whilst the sun shines? We are all heading in one way or another towards huge difficulties. Should we advance them or should we enjoy the moment. Me? I will enjoy the moment.
