Jesus said I am the bread of life. John 6:35. Christian, eat no more food. Jesus will sustain your physical body. Jesus said I am the Living Water. John 7:37-39. Christian, drink no more fluids. The Lord is my refuge, fortress. Ps 91:2; 18: 2. Christian, build no more houses, no more roofs. The LORD will wipe away every tear, no more hurt, heartbreak, loneliness Rev 21: 1-4. Christian, stop crying right here and right now. When you get saved, non believer, you just sit on a place. Don’t eat. Don’t drink. Don’t feel. Don’t cry. Is this Christianity? Of course not. Far from it. What Jesus is doing, is addressing physical situations, with a spiritual principle. In heaven, no more tears. Here on earth, cry away, but get your comfort in Christ, as people cannot or will not comfort you. They in fact are the very cause of your hardships and loneliness. MCC has been doing jail ministry and HoH ministry and Eversley ministry for 26 years. Why? To reach out to people like me and you. Broken people. People in hurt, in pain, lonely, broken. People with no one to touch, caress them. Lonely, lonely, hurting people. What do we do? Bring them love. How? By touch. Touch is the very essence of love. Did you ever love someone? Child? They need your touch. Spouse? They need more than your touch. BF, GF? They need your touch. Pet? They need your touch. That, touch, is how we express our love, feelings. No touch? No relationship. That’s why Jesus gave, enhanced, confirmed the ministry of touch. Go feed my sheep. Might as well say- go touch the lepers. Go put your arm around a lonely person. Let them feel your touch. Nothing so cold as words without touch. Let us understand, we were not made to live in heaven. Not yet. We still have to live on earth. Heaven is later. Jesus loves you. Simple words. But they must be paired with the touch of comforting arms. Your arms. The arms of Jesus. But careful how you extend this in personal relationships. The joy of the LORD, the Water of the LORD, the Bread of the LORD, are not, and never ever replace human bodily needs. Physical and spiritual are not the same. I know of a person who is oh, so lonely. Cries of loneliness. Cries for touch. But is very spiritually strong. They don't go around laughing….hahahaha I am soooo happy in my loneliness. That’s silly and absurd. They are strong in the LORD. But they feel daily loneliness. The joy of the LORD is their strength. But the pain of loneliness remains. Keep things in balance and perspective. Let us think before we attempt to “comfort“ someone. Ah…the thinking first. Carry your cross. It is not meant to be escaped from.
