Mixed Emotions; Transferring…..

Everything has its time. There is a start and there is an end. And for me, the end has come today. I leave MCLC Grade 5, to sleep back in MCC with no power. How do I feel? Sad. Why? I leave people behind in MCLC that I have enjoyed seeing all the time. And I go back to the wilderness. Alone. No power. Loud generator, expensive fuel. Though Grade 5 is not ideal, companionship carried the day. MCC, no companionship; at least not the same as MCLC. So, how do we relate all of this spiritually. There is a crossover; MCLC to MCC. Now, whether you want to use John 5: 24, a crossover, and its context is darkness to light, my focus is not so much the destination, but rather, the transference. When we transfer, from one place to another, physically or spiritually, we leave behind emotions, friendships, we may feel at a loss for a while. We may struggle, we may question our life’s situation, there are many emotions that we go through. Whether near or far, we leave behind memories, experiences (good or bad). And as we look ahead, we do not know what will come. We only know where we have been. We all strive to transfer to something better. And this is how we now see spiritually. When Jesus called his disciples, he simply said- follow me- Mk 1: 17. Did they know life would be an intransient lifestyle; Luke 9: 58? No, they had no idea where they would be going, they had no idea what experiences they would face; they just knew they had to go where they were being led. It takes a while to slot into a new routine, it doesn’t happen overnight. Some people just cannot adjust to a new routine; they look back to what they had- aircon, companionship Num 11: 5 yet others saw and looked ahead what was coming as an exciting challenge- Num 13: 30. An interesting point, the older ones saw the challenge with enthusiasm, the younger ones saw it as burdensome. We can do it, we can do it, says the voice of experience, after too many experiences. Do I need another one? Let me stay here…no, no, you can handle another challenge, another experience…your friend will always be there. They will encourage you- you can do it! C’mon! Sometimes in life, only we can encourage ourselves 1 Sam 4:9- come on John, you can do it! No one knows or understands the emotions we face, the struggles we face, and the fight within. It ultimately comes down to encouraging yourself. Facing a lonely mountain? C’mon! You can do it!!
