Silence is Sin…..

There are so many ways to understand what we read. There are apparent opposites, but they are not. They are true, its just they are applicable in different situations. We are told there is a time to speak and a time to keep silent Ecc 3:7-8. We are also told hold your tongue and it is wise Pro 10:19. Even a fool who keeps quiet is thought to be wise. So, it seems silence is the right way to go. But not when dealing with a serious situation. Silence is sin Lev 5:1-10. When you know of wrong doing, and you say nothing, you are guilty of sin. Lev 5: 1, 5 tells us you are required to speak up, when you hear of something wrong. My question is; why do Christians, protect evil? Why? I was saddened to find out 2 people were in an active sexual relationship. I did not know, and when I did, I sadly saw the results of what people had known, but failed to report, which ended up in violence, tears, torn hearts. Why? Because the issue was not reported. Could not be dealt with; so then things just got worse and worse. When we learn, that when someone is in sexual immorality, it is not something to be hidden. It is wicked behaviour to be reported to the pastor, and then dealt with immediately. Immediatley a pastor hears of it, it must be dealt with. Well, I was never ever informed. Until a woman was strangled, threatened with violence. When will people report things, wicked, evil, criminal things, so that action can be taken to prevent the situation becoming worse. For some reason, people love to gossip over trivia, but refuse to deal with immorality. This is wrong. Informing of wicked behaviour, is not gossip, it is the right thing to do. We can offer help, as we see fit. A person is entitled to reject that help. But then in the future, when the same situation happens again, they cannot cry help me, for they chose to place themselves back into a very dangerous situation. Sometimes we need to see that it is the right thing, to try to prevent a serious incidence. Like they say, you can lead a horse to water; but you cant make him drink it. You can offer someone great help, but it is their choice not to accept this. We need to understand God provides us a way out of immorality and violence and in many different situations; but people refuse to take the way out. They are to be pitied above all else. Its almost like they are afraid of every single person, and in this fear, they are blinded to the love and compassion of God to help them. Its quite sad. Silence is sin.
