As I sit looking at the strong wind, some rain, I am reminded of cyclone Odette. It was a once in a lifetime experience. Some handled it well. Some handled it in fear. For me, the worst part was afterwards. I remember how I literally carried half the carport. I was pumped with adrenaline. Now, I sit inside, classes shut, 2 days now. I remember we loved storms and rain as kids. Played in them. Got soaked. But now? Two days classes shut? Why? Safety? Fear? Over protection? It's clear...pump iron and your muscles grow (males). Eat less and your very slim (females). In other words, you must work to achieve a goal. Does over protection actually benefit or is it a recipe for failure? Storms of life, must come. They must and will come. And how we handle them depends on how we prepared for them. Scripture encourages us to learn from the past...these things were written to teach us... Rom 15:4. Past experiences we are to learn from. Usually mistakes we learn best from. But if we are trying to be over protective, so kids or adults, don't learn, we actually are preparing them for failure. We refuse to let them experience some difficulties or hardships. To let people experience wrath, discipline, storms of emotions, we do them good. It may hurt. You. Them. But don't stop people from learning. Any lesson. In all facets of life. An angry kid. An angry friend. Because of your decision...to let them experience a storm...is not bad. Its good. Don't be overprotective.
