What a surprise!! This is generally seen to be something good, positive. I was so shocked when I was told! This is often perceived as sudden bad news. Life’s surprises are nice to have. Sudden bad news is never tasty. And when you get 3 or 4 lots, from different directions, it is the LORD’s strength that we can cope, and continue. Finding out bad info from others, rather than the person themselves is a sad situation. It is truly lacking awareness of the ways of God. It is making decisions as one would in the world, and transferring them to the Kingdom of God. It never works out. You sleep with someone. You get pregnant. You either lose the baby or you lose the father. How to deal with this information in the world? Of course, for a miscarriage - you hide it as much as possible. And then you actually think all relationships will be just the same as before you were caught committing sexual immorality. That is the way of the world. They couldn’t care less. No spiritual lessons needed to be learnt. “It’s normal”. And what’s more, it is “Christians” who think like that. Paul was so right in 1 Cor 5:1. Why? 1 Cor 5:5 - hand this man over to satan. That means, let people learn the hard way. So when people surprise you, or rather shock you with bad/sad news, let them learn the hard way that their behaviour is unacceptable. The problem though is Jonah 1:5b - throwing the cargo overboard means that the owners of the cargo suffered, they lost their goods; the recipients of the needed cargo did not receive it - as it was thrown away. Life is the same. Innocent people suffer when we make bad choices. We too suffer. So do others who should not have to. And yet people get upset, when they find out there are consequences for their wrong doing. People are just not used to being disciplined. Yet they cannot even realise that their actions are so unfair towards many people. People want sympathy for their self-inflicted wounds and are blind to the pain they cause others. And yet in every situation, when the trouble does come, and it will come, when the trouble come, that may be the only time people stop and think- maybe I have done wrong? But something drastic has to happen to wake them up from their spiritual stupor. A life cutting instance. For a woman, is a loss of a child. Why? Well, we know the life is formed by God in the womb Jer 1:5. And yet in Hos 9:4 miscarrying is a punishment. Ex 23:25ff a clear verse that miscarrying is from the LORD. Ps 58:8 it is something that is seen as punishment. Ecc 6:3 is a positive verse on miscarriage – better not born, than live a hard life. Generally, miscarriage is brought by God - wombs that miscarry Deut 28:18 Humanly, there is a medical reason for miscarriage. Scripturally, there is also a reason for it. It is up to the woman involved, to lie on her bed, and assess, what brought her to this situation.
